The meaning of Australia is not found in our meat pies
It’s not in our Holden’s or our vegemite smiles
You won’t find it on the Barbie
Inside a shrimp or snag
It’s not hidden in the Sunday roast or in a lamington
No the meaning of Australia is seen in the hearts of men
that for hope and country risked life and bled
you see it on our athletes veiled by our flag
standing on a podium a washed in our anthem
You see it on summer nights and our beaches full of sand
It lives within the animal’s native to the land
Its glowing in the stars
you see it shine so bright
the southern cross our symbol of national pride
We feel it in our neighbourhoods
It blazes in our smiles
We are all a part of it this country we so admire
And if you look more closely the meaning you will see
Glistening inside of us
Inside of you and me
