About Me and My Poetry

I'm a thirteen year old poet/writer that wants to see if my poetry is worth it. I believe it is, but then, I also believe there is room for improvement in the greatest people. I'm young and still have to learn a lot about the universe. I'm scared what this world will have for me, but I am excited as well. Improvement you better be ready because I will pave your unpaved roads. In case you were wondering I am weird and my profile picture is a photograph that I proudly took.

"You don't deserve to know"

Wait until you've lived in a cardboard box stealing pockets for a living.
Playing the role of robber until you forgot you were acting
and the day they set you in jail, your arsenal grew.
Now you know taking pockets isn't worth it, aiming for the rich homes is.
They won't miss what they can get more of,
at least, that's how they taught you to see it

Wait until you're living on one income.
Your illegal immigrant mother lost your father by his best friend.
And she can't go to the cops because the stain she left entering your country is one no amount of bleach can change
So when she leaves the house, she stares at the killer, let's him hit on her
steal a kiss or two
Maybe even a grab so we can continue living.
I don't know if we can.
His cigarette smoke has burned away at my books.
His clothes lay neatly in my closet.
My bedroom has been home to his unconscious form that I stopped calling it mine
I claim the floor, a sanctuary hidden beneath feet.
I hide away from him, in case when my mother's skin stops defying gravity,
he'll come after me.

Wait until you've become the grown man with a heart to cold to thaw.
The day the war took your brother six feet under,
air stopped seeming necessary. And it isn't depression, just a will to stop living.
So when you see kids and remember the memories
you push them away.
Tell your children their grandbabies should believe their grandpa died in the war with his brother
Because he did. (work on this)

Wait until you're the girl who has grown muscle because boys are too weak to do the difficult chores.
Even if they were designed to be stronger, they are far too valuable to break their backs carrying a load meant for two.
And if it weren't for her womb, they wouldn't bother to keep her because she's just another useless mouth to feed,
they all are.

Wait until you are the people living off of the assumptions made by others
Getting sick from the poison they spill
The scars on your arms are just reminders when your ink tried to defend you and failed

I am the forgotten people.
You've promised you'd love me forever,
When you choose to remember, remind me with a gentle hug
Squeeze my spirits out and take them with you
I have been told for so long that I'll never be problem free
I figured you'll need my sanity more than me

When he looked at my covered exterior his last words were, "you don't deserve to know."
Of course he didn't

I have waited one day now
I yearn for the nights before tears were no longer options
Happiness feels like a curse for the grown man
Because after building children's walls with hope,
we took each wall down a dream at a time

I yearn for the joining of moon and sun-
Living as one
Because after watching my world become undone
the only constant in my life has been the sky

The sky,
a place where dreams are forgotten until the rain reminds us why we forgot
We plant forget-me-nots so the ground can never tell us it never forgot.
She asks why we have forgotten.

We have waited two weeks now,
The Sun has yet to bloom her rays
The moon and the stars are fighting to stay
And all we've done is push them away

Run sky, run
for this gentle Earth has been drenched in red,
Your rain has become blood and bullets
Flames fill white clouds grey
Tears flow freely onto fallen bodies for we cannot pound the ground any longer

My sister at age 3,
forgot what the Sun felt like
She'd pretend that hiding from bombs was the way her sun loved
She'd look at war-torn land and call it home
Watch a bomb fly and ask if that were peace

Her ashen skin and raven eyes are just smoke and debris
and death
So why do we stop to wonder why after four years she died

Fly, sister fly
for your hope has never died
You took death by surprise
and I believe the day the moon and sun are one
It will be by your hands
